Kirdford Village Stores – The story so far
Kirdford Village is tucked away in an idyllic part of West Sussex between Petworth and Billingshurst.
Having started trading in the summer of 2010, the shop has continued to go from strength to strength. In 2011 we won ‘Best Village Shop’ in the Telegraph Magazines ‘Best small shops in Britain awards’ presented by Queen of shops, Mary Portas!
We then went on to win ‘Best village store and post office’ for the South East region two years running at the Countryside Alliances ‘Rural Oscars’. We didn’t manage the overall title, but there’s still time!
In November 2016 the community decided the shop should take a slightly different direction and the shop adopted the other model of a community shop as long-term manager Craig Ramus took on the tenancy of the shop and the community became landlords.
Having made the first model so successful, the shop continues to thrive using the alternative. So much so that in May 2017 at the P&H Gala Dinner and Awards we won ‘Community Retailer of the year’. This was presented for outstanding work in the community as well as providing excellent service in the local area.
Our range, services and customer base continues to grow and we pride ourselves on stocking what our customers ask for!
We hope very much to see you at the shop in the near future!
